Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a graphical overhaul of the iconic game. The original Modern Warfare captivated gamers for millions of collective hours. In fact, CoD 4 is often considered one of the best first-person shooters ever made. It's a nostalgic experience for many gamers with many memorable moments. Raven Software took care of the remaster effort, and many would say the results speak for themselves. Can this be considered one of the best remaster efforts ever undertaken and released?

The Original Game Preserved In Story and Gameplay

In Modern Warfare, Marine Corps and SAS soldiers separately take on worldwide terror groups. They must prevent a plot against the United States and the rest of the developed world. Modern Warfare Remastered is a first-person shooter with a flashy single player campaign and frenetic multiplayer gameplay. Simply put, everyone understands that CoD 4 provides an entertaining six-hour campaign. Then the game provides countless hours of multiplayer action that's hard to beat.

A Full Remaster That Redefines What A Remaster Is

Typically, remasters update the textures and lighting of the original game. Modern Warfare Remastered takes things a step further with many more improvements. Everything from textures and sounds to minor gameplay mechanics have been updated. The game is designed to look and player better than when it was originally released. Without a doubt, it's difficult to argue with the results. Modern Warfare Remastered looks like a modern game, although players should be able to tell this is a remastered game.

Single Player and Multiplayer Excitement Abound

The single player campaign clocks in at six hours for the average player. It's a short but entertaining run with action setpieces. In some ways, Modern Warfare was the first Call of Duty to fully grasp movie-like action scenes. Multiplayer provides various game modes with dozens of weapons and perks across various remastered maps. Fortunately, multiplayer feels more smooth than ever before. Certain frustrations related to overpowered perks and lackluster maps may persist here to some degree.

Much More To Love Than To Criticize

Nonetheless, Modern Warfare Remastered gets a lot of things right. The game's original mistake surrounded it being bundled with Infinite Warfare and not being available separately. That was changed with a standalone release, though, and now everyone can purchase the title. Also, some criticism has been levied at microtransactions and the fact that the game is quite easy to hack and load aimbots onto still. Perhaps this game is a perfect remaster that comes with the original game's more serious flaws.
